The Moldovan Fraud Tour

Standardized Tours

Why a Moldova Fraud Tour? This almost sounds crazy, doesn’t it?
First and foremost, at Moldova Tours 2.0, we are driven by a strong work ethic, and we are against all types of fraud. However, for those of you who have followed the news coming from Moldova, you have heard or read about furtul secolului, the robbery of the century when a gigantic banking scandal was first disclosed in late 2014, and was put under the spotlight by the publication of the Kroll Report in May 2015. This scandal shook the country last year, and seems to have significant social and economic consequences.

This is a tour for those of you of believe that tourism in a developing country is not just about visiting places, eating picnics and taking pictures (don’t worry it will still be part of the fun with us), but also about discovering the socio-economic realities shaping the daily lives of the locals.

Without going into too much detail in this overview, the equivalent in Moldovan Leu of one billion dollars disappeared from three of the major banks of the country by means of a complex transnational financial criminal scheme.
The Moldovan Fraud Tour sets forth two main objectives

1) Help you discover Moldova (probably the reason why you are coming here in the first place).
2) Give you some insights into the scandal.

You will meet some experts and bank managers from Moldova who will talk to you in English about the fight against corruption in their country, you will learn about the main actors and will be provided some deep insights into the arcane of the scandal by visiting some key locations as the events unfolded.
We do not want to provide you with an official version of the scandal, which to date, does not exist. All we want is to give you some insights from the very people who have been close to what happened.
