The Wine Tour

Standardized Tours

Did you know that Moldova actually is home to the two largest underground wine cellars in the world? Moldovan wines have recently acquired world-class reputation. When it comes to varieties (Chardonnay, Cabernet Sauvignon, Aligoté…), winegrowers largely grow grapes of French origin. Yet, the cultivation methods and blends used are distinctly Moldovan. The Moldova wine festival, also named “National Wine Day”, takes place in Chisinau during the first weekend in October at the end of the grape harvest. The festival is a yearly ode to Moldova’s rich winemaking traditions, which are more than six hundred years old. Famous Moldovan wineries include great names such as cricova.md, milestii-mici.md, purcari.md, asconi.md,vartely.md
Let us also mention Kvint, which is a wine- and brandy distillery based in Tiraspol, the capital of the separatist Republic of Transnistria. The acronym “KVINT” is composed of the first letters of the Russian phrase “Divins, Wines and Beverages of Tiraspol”.
