Hi everyone, my name is Marc. I have a PhD in economics. I am associate professor at the University of Burgundy, currently on leave, and the Managing Director of the Moldova Blockchain Centre. I am also the Founder and Director of Moldova Tours 2.0, the very first 2.0 tourism company in Moldova. Web 1.0 is the web configuration that existed prior to Youtube, Facebook, and other social media websites that you are all familiar with. It was mostly a read-only Web that implied passive behaviour from the users. Interestingly enough, all travel agencies in Moldova are based on the Web 1.0 model. You browse through a catalogue of tourism destination, hotels, restaurants, flights, and you finally make your decision to book (or not) your trip to Moldova. Let us admit that some agencies have incorporated some very basic 2.0 functionalities, such as online booking forms where the user is allowed to generate very basic (often text-based) content, in order to specify his requests.
Now what would be a Web 2.0 approach? First and foremost, Web 2.0 is synonymous with user-generated content and online interaction. You are suddenly moving to a brand new write-read-upload-download new type of collaborative universe wherein collective intelligence is essential.
Well, unless you have been living under a rock for the last ten years or so, you haven’t missed the fact that we have moved from a Web 1.0 to a Web 2.0 world where people now interact using a wide range of web 2.0 tools (wikis, micro blogging, social networking sites etc…). Why would it go otherwise for tourism in Moldova?
Web 3.0 is certainly the next step of this technological evolution with the advent of connected objects, semantic web and other intelligent devices, but we’ll leave that story for later…
By all means, may you have a pleasant, instructive and, above all, fulfilling experience both at the cultural and human level on the Moldova Tours 2.0 website!
